WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON MY FIRST ICBC PHYSIOTHERAPY VISIT?
At your first visit, we’ll discuss your health history and the details of your car accident, such as your sitting position, the direction and location of the impact, and how fast you and the other car were moving.
After taking a thorough history, we’ll conduct a physical exam to assess your body’s movement, muscle strength, nerve function, and perform any necessary special tests. If further investigations or imaging are needed, we’ll communicate with your family doctor.
TREATMENT PLAN
After your physical examination, we will be able to diagnose your injury, and start physiotherapy treatment. Your treatment session can include one or multiple techniques such as acupuncture, IMS, electrical modalities, manual therapy, cupping therapy, and exercise therapy. To have a better understanding of these techniques, refer to our
“Physiotherapy Services” section on our menu for detailed explanations.
We often find that injuries from motor vehicle accidents benefit from working in conjunction with other healthcare practitioners. We often refer to other paramedical services as needed to optimize your recovery. We will also direct bill and communicate with your ICBC support and recovery specialist as needed
If your injury extends beyond the 12 weeks and further treatment is required, we will submit the necessary documents for approval of further ICBC physiotherapy visits.
